The Weblog

The Online Market is open for ordering from 8 AM Wednesday till 8 PM on Thursday.
Spring time is upon us again. The planting of vegetables and flowers is in full spead as we work to provide an aboundance of fresh new products. Please feel free to make your selections from the great products available this week.

Remember the New Customer Referral Program
From March 20 through June 30

How it Works
1. Tell a friend about the CUMMING HARVEST farmers market.
2. Have them register at cumming.locallygrown.net. (the market managers will contact all new customers to ask who referred them)
3. After their third purchase (3 different weeks), your credit will be applied to your account.
Thank you for sharing your love of healthy food and for helping to support our local growers!

Market News

We’ve got you covered for LABOR DAY!

The farmers and vendors have listed over 500 items for you to choose from.
Some highlights are…

Secret Garden Soap Labor Day Special! 20% off regular price. This is a grab bag of assorted soaps. The scents are soapmaker’s choice, and the bars are of different sizes, but each bag will contain 16 oz. of handmade all vegetable oil soap. What a great way to sample handmade soap at a discount as you help me empty my shelves before holiday soapmaking. Contains olive, palm and coconut oils, distilled water, shea butter, sodium hydroxide, stearic acid, color and fragrance.

A&A Alta Cucina has an assortment of sauces and vinegar blends that would make great marinades. This may be the last time she can make it over to our market until Fall so get your orders in this week.

Lillian’s Sweet Hawaiian Glaze is a new BBQ sauce made and sold locally in Cumming.

Heritage Farm has listed smoked, sliced ham, which we hardly ever have.

Phoenix Gardens is back with eggs and in season veggies.

Farm Fresh Foods has a new and delicious Raspberry Fig Cake as well as Fig Bars this week.

Royal Rose Bakery has a Sun Dried Tomato and Rosemary Loaf as well as her selection of quiche’s.

These are the makings for a great Labor Day meal, I hope you have a great week and holiday!

Organic Gardening Workshop

Lynn also teaches a one-day Organic Gardening Workshop each year. This class is an introduction to the fundamentals of growing organically, and includes three sessions–Soils, Pest Management, and Plants plus actual Planting. Each session is approximately two hours in length, including discussion and hands-on activities for practical learning. Typically held on a Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, workshop attendees enjoy a vegetarian lunch of farm-fresh produce, usually soup and salad, with an optional tour of the farm.

The next Organic Gardening Workshop will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013. The cost to attend is $75 per person. If you would like to attend, email Lynn at canecreekfarminfo@mindspring.com.

NEW TO THE MARKET?
Here’s some tips to help you have the best experience when ordering online.
1. ORDER EARLY…the market opens at 8am every Wednesday, popular items will sell out quickly. (Don’t wait for this email to place your order!!)
2. COMPLETE YOUR ORDER…you can lose an item in your cart if someone else orders and completes the order ahead of you.
3. LOOK FOR A CONFIRMATION EMAIL…if you don’t receive an email showing your completed order, your order was not placed and you’ll need to place it again.
4. MULTIPLE ORDERS…placing multiple orders aren’t a problem, they will be grouped together on our order form with one total.
5. ARRIVE EARLY TO PICK UP…We usually have extras from various farmers/vendors and maybe a Farmer of the Day. Arrive at 10am for a better selection and less wait time.
6. BRING GROCERY BAGS…Don’t forget to bring your reusable grocery bags to pack your order.
7. EMAIL THE GROWER…each farmer lists their own products and tries to make the listings as clear as possible so that you know what you are buying, but sometimes it may need more explanation. You are buying directly from the farmer/vendor and they are more than happy to speak to you to answer any questions.
