Duck Egg Promotion from The Duckery

The Duckery has a whole new batch of medium duck eggs available. They are running a sale on them since they are not quite as large as their regular duck eggs. You can place your order online for the special eggs at $7 per dozen.

The Health benefits of a duck egg: it works well with keto diet and/or helps alkalizing the body which is anticancer forming atmosphere…

Nutritious value: higher in omega-3 and iron…and if you know of anyone allergic to chicken eggs, they likely can eat duck without a problem! So please give them a try now, as the girls are laying an egg a day.

IT’S FALL, YA’LL!!!

September 22nd is the first day of fall. Also called the autumnal equinox, the day and night will be almost equal in most locations.

Everywhere you look, you can see the visible changes as nature prepares for winter: birds are flying south, temperatures are getting cooler, leaves are changing colors, and animals’ coats are thickening, to name a few.

And you will see some new items available for purchase at the Cumming Harvest Market in the coming weeks. Think of all the delicious fall recipes you will be able to make with your new market goodies, and maybe some festive fall decorations like gourds.

WHAT ARE THE HEALTHIEST INGREDIENTS FOR A SALAD?

The following ingredients are some of the healthiest ones you can include in a salad. I’m all for moderation though, so don’t be too hard on yourself if you want to add in some cheese or croutons — I won’t tell!

Grower Spotlight - Dirt Road Farms

This week we are featuring one of our growers who specializes in chicken eggs:

Dirt Road Farm is a small family-owned farm on 1.5 acres. They began by raising laying chickens for themselves in the summer of 2012. They have a flock of 120 hens, a vegetable garden in the summer, and they are raising pork and meat chickens for friends and family.
Their hens forage all day in the yard and woods. Their feed contains non-GMO grains and is medication and soy free. Candler’s Certificate #7022.

Be sure to check out their products this week for pickup on Saturday morning.

Labor Day Holiday Closure Sept. 4th, 2021

Happy Wednesday! As a reminder, the market is closed this weekend, September 4th, 2021 for the Labor Day holiday. We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

We will reopen the market on Wednesday, Sept. 8th for the Saturday market on Sept. 11th. See you all then!

Deep Dive into Meals by Grace

Last month, I mentioned that proceeds from the Cumming Harvest Market go to support Meals by Grace. Today we take a deeper look at how this ministry is helping to feed hungry children in North Georgia.

Mission Statement:
Meals by Grace believes all children have the right to live their lives free from the fear, the pain, and the insecurity of hunger. We believe every community can provide abundant resources for its children; by community, for community.

In addition to home delivery on the weekends, Meals by Grace runs a client-choice pantry every Wednesday for Forsyth County residents in need of food.
