The Weblog

The Online Market is open for ordering from 8 AM Wednesday till 8 PM on Thursday.
Spring time is upon us again. The planting of vegetables and flowers is in full spead as we work to provide an aboundance of fresh new products. Please feel free to make your selections from the great products available this week.

Remember the New Customer Referral Program
From March 20 through June 30

How it Works
1. Tell a friend about the CUMMING HARVEST farmers market.
2. Have them register at cumming.locallygrown.net. (the market managers will contact all new customers to ask who referred them)
3. After their third purchase (3 different weeks), your credit will be applied to your account.
Thank you for sharing your love of healthy food and for helping to support our local growers!

Welcome to the Market!

Welcome to the Market!

Lizzie’s Pantry is a local supplier of Wheat Montana products. Here’s what they have to say…
We are proud to offer the highest standard of wheat, flour and grains to the South! We are so proud to offer Wheat Montana products that are all GMO Free, Chemical Free, All Natural, Nothing Added, Nothing Removed, Excellent in Protein, and Simply Delicious! You won’t find a better quality offering in the South East.

Molly’s Suds started in Buford, GA in 2008! We began our company after the stillbirth of our daughter Molly. As a pediatric nurse and mom, I became aware of the dangers in our laundry products and household cleaners while researching stillbirths. Studies show that the chemicals in our cleaning products and bath and body products are found in new born cord blood! We vow to make products without estrogens, carcinogens and human toxins. Safe for people and the planet!

Kale Salad

by Paula Guilbeau of Heirloom Gardens

Dressing:
1/2 cup peanut oil
1T sesame oil
2T apple cider vinegar
1T soy sauce
1 1/2 T honey
Dash of Cayenne or siracha to taste
Salt and pepper to taste

Salad:
1 Bag Kale chopped
Scallion- I use at least 3
Cilantro- 1/4 cup or handful
Mint-1/4 cup or handful
Dried Cranberries or any other dried fruit
Crushed peanuts or any other nut

Make the dressing and pour over the kale in small amounts, just enough to cover it as you massage the kale, add the rest of salad ingredients and toss with more oil.
This salad gets better and better as it sits, can also add chopped bok choi for more crunch

FARMER OF THE DAY
April 12 – JavaGenesis

JavaGenesis Coffee Roasting is a small batch craft roaster of specialty coffee.
All of our coffee will be roasted within 24-48 ours of the market to ensure our product is at peak freshness when it is delivered to the market.

In addition to producing awesome coffee, promoting responsible environmental and/or social stewardship is important to us. Because Georgia does not have the climate needed to grow coffee, we use 3 importers to source our green coffee. We select coffee from our importers that have been farmed using sustainable practices and when possible we buy shade grown and/or fair trade organic coffees. We roast on a roaster which uses infrared burners, not open flame, atmospheric burners. IR burners produce substantially lower emissions than atmospheric burners. We are proud to roast our coffee on a ‘greener’ roaster. In addition, we give all of our organic waste material (coffee chaff, coffee grounds, etc) to a local farmers and gardeners.

We invite you to ‘Discover the Fresh Roast Difference’.
